Harmony with “Hot Cross Buns”

January 30, 2009

We are studying 2-, 3-, and 4-part harmony this week.  Fourth graders are playing 4-part harmony to “Hot Cross Buns,” using sopranino, soprano, and alto recorders.  Mrs. Burns played the tenor recorder. We recorded ourselves so you can hear what we’ve worked on.  Listen to our recordings below!

STUDENT ASSIGNMENT!!!  Visit Wikipedia’s Recorder site by clicking HERE, read about the recorder, then leave a comment by answering this question….

Why do you think learning to play recorder is an important step in becoming a good musician?

(this is an opinion question, so state YOUR opinion…do not copy what others have said!)

Fourth Grade Class Performances

November 13, 2008

This week fourth grade has been singing a song called “If All the World…” about an imaginary world where the sea is made of ink, the world is made of apple pie, and the trees are made of bread and cheese.  In this imaginary world, the only thing you can drink is soft drinks (don’t we wish!!).  We added Orff accompaniment and created a rondo by adding “drink-chains” in between each A section, which was the song.  We even recorded our performances….listen below and leave a comment on your a performance of your choice (or if you’re my student, comment on your class’ recording!).  Enjoy!
